Liverpool and West Ham were on alert last night after Barcelona midfielder Jonathan Dos Santos hinted that he wants to leave the Nou Camp.

Dos Santos; whose brother Giovanni played for Ipswich and Tottenham last season; is open to a move to the Premier League and so a summer switch looks likely.

The central midfield man has found first team football hard to come by at the Catalan club with the likes of Xavi, Andres Iniesta and Cesc Fabregas all playing a similar role to him.

Liverpool were keen on the 22 year old last summer but couldn’t iron out a deal with the La Liga leaders however this time around things should be much simpler.

West Ham are looking to spend big in order to build a team fit for the Olympic Stadium and so an investment on a talented youngster could be the next logical step.

‘Next season is incredibly important to me,’ Dos Santos told the Metro.

‘I want to play more and more often. At the end of the season, I will sit down and see what’s best for me.’
