Liverpool are now highly likely to retain the services of want-away star Daniel Agger after Brendan Rodgers praised the centre-back as well as clarifying his role in the side, Express reports.
The Danish defender was linked with a move all over Europe after previously admitting his desire to leave Anfield, believing he wan’t getting enough playing time.
However, Rodgers looks to have secured his stay by declaring him as an important member of the squad, while adding that his experience is a great asset to the club.
“Daniel is one of a number of excellent players that we have playing at the back.
“He has been unfortunate in the time that I’ve been at the club because the big issue for Dan has been his availability.
“He has been out injured for a number of games. He’s an excellent player, an international captain and he’s had a very good career at Liverpool.
“He’s at a good age, 29, and his experience can be good for us this season. He signed a new contract last season.
“He’s an excellent player, a very good footballer and someone that is an important member of our squad.”
