Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has played down speculation that he will be signing AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli during this transfer window, SkySPORTS reports.
When asked about the Milan striker, Rodgers had nothing put praise for the 23-year-old Italian international.
Despite this, he revealed that he will not be making a move to bring him to Anfield after already securing an attacking pair in Divock Origi and Rickie Lambert from Lille and Southampton respectively.
With the Reds looking to fill the void left by the departure of last season’s Premier League top goal scorer Luis Suarez, Balotelli was believed to be the one who would replace him.
“I can categorically tell you Mario Balotelli will not be at Liverpool,” Rodgers said.
“In my last press conference I was asked a question about Mario Balotelli and I talked about what a talent he was and what an excellent player he was and the next day it was wrote as if we were signing him.
“I just gave my perception of him as a player. It shouldn’t be transmitted in to us signing the player.”
