Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has dismissed speculation that Jurgen Klopp’s training methods have increased the number of injuries, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

The Reds have been hit with a high number of injuries this season, with no less than 13 players sidelined last month including four out of his five first-team centre-backs.

And during that period, Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce claimed that Klopp’s arrival and training routines have caused the Liverpool players to tire out, leading to the constant injuries.

However, club captain Henderson, who himself has been out for most of the season, revealed that the German had no fault in their bad luck, citing that his methods are, if anything, more mental than physical.

“I don't buy it at all, to be honest,” he stressed. “The amount of games that we have had, you cannot train that much. We play and recover, play and recover, so it is hard to get any kind of training in.

“All we do is tactical stuff. It is intense but I wouldn't say it is intense on the body. It's more mentally that (Klopp) tests you. He wants you to take on board what he wants from you tactically.

“He wants you to know exactly what he wants from you when he sends you on to the pitch. But I honestly don't see how you could it is because of training that all those injuries have come about. We haven't trained enough for them to happen.”

The Merseyside club lead Stoke City 1-0 ahead of a Capital One Cup semi-final second leg clash on Tuesday, meaning that Liverpool will only need a draw to advance to the final at Wembley next month.
