Liverpool have completed the signing of Javier Manquillo on a two-season long loan from Atletico Madrid, BBC reports.
The 20-year-old right back has now become Brendan Rodgers’ seventh signing of the transfer window and has revealed his delight at making the switch.
“I’m very happy to have signed for Liverpool,” said Manquillo.
“I think it’s one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Any footballer would want to come and play here.”
The defender added: “When they tell you Liverpool want to sign you, like any player, you are going to be absolutely amazed and you don’t think of anything else other than going straight there.”
He now joins Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can, Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren, and Divock Origi, who are all set to make their Premier League debut for the side.
Competition for a place at right-back is now on a high with both Jon Flanagan and Glen Johnson also battling for the role.
