Mohamed Diame publicly stated his intentions to leave West Ham United, with the hopes of playing for a bigger side and is believed to be on Liverpool’s wishlist, Mirror reports.
The Reds are currently monitoring the situation of Diame as the summer transfer window draws closer, with the midfielder looking likely to leave Upton Park in the very near future.
He said: “Liverpool? I can’t tell you if I will be a Liverpool player next season. But I think my name is still on their wanted list.
“I don’t hide it, I’m ambitious and I want to join a top-six side. I am 26 years old and it’s time to take that step.”
The 26-year-old is still under contract with West Ham and still has another year left, but could leave the side if Brendan Rodgers can trigger his £3.5-million buyout clause.
Sources from the Hammers state that the club do want to hold onto the services of the Senegalese star, but are finding it hard to meet his expected 80,000-a-week wages in order to ensure his stay.
