Liverpool join the transfer chase for Celtic ace
Liverpool have become the latest to show an interest in Celtic wonder kid Victor Wanyama, according to the Guardian.
The 21 year old Kenyan is a fans favourite down at Parkhead having opened the scoring in Celtic’s memorable 2-1 win at home to Barcelona in the Champions League earlier this season.
However the midfielder’s recent performances have put many of Europe’s elite onto the trail of his signature. Especially as it is no secret that Victor Wanyama is yet to sign a new contract, publicly stating that the club are unable to meet his wage demands.
It is understood that the Scottish giants have slapped a £10m transfer tag on Wanyama although with just one year left on his contract offers may well have to be taken seriously.
There has already been a host of Premier League representatives casting their eye over the midfielder with clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal all sending representatives across the border.
But it’s Brendan Rodgers who is the latest manager to take a shine to Wanyama. The Liverpool manager has made it clear that he wants to strengthen his midfield this summer and sees the Kenyan as a perfect fit for his Liverpool squad. Especially as the youngster can play centre back to, giving Rodgers that versatility his squad desperately craves.
However Liverpool aren’t blessed with the same bank accounts as Manchester United and Manchester City, and the Anfield based club may have to sell some assets before they look to bring any more in.
