Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has urged the Reds squad players to step up to the plate with injuries affecting the squad.
Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard are both out until the new year and so Fowler believes this is a real chance for the likes of Raheem Sterling, Iago Aspas and Joe Allen to make a claim for a regular starting spot.
With a hectic run of games of Christmas, starting with Tottenham today, Liverpool will be hoping to still be in the top four by the time Gerrard and Sturridge return.
Huge pressure is now on Luis Suarez who is set to captain the Reds today, just six months after wanting out of the club.
Fowler has urged boss Brendan Rodgers to show faith in other players and give them a chance to prove themselves.
“But Steven and Daniel will be a miss. Now it’s up to Brendan [Rodgers] to get the team rolling and get all the players rallied and say, ‘Listen now’s a chance for you to show people that Liverpool is not a two man team,” Fowler told talkSPORT.
“Steven’s going to be missing, now go and show people what you can do without them.
“It is a great chance for other players to try and fit into that mould.”
