Robbie Fowler believes that Chelsea defender John Terry should be on the plane to Brazil next summer of the World Cup, as reported by talkSPORT.

Terry has returned to the heart of the Blues defence this season and is back to his best under Jose Mourinho.

Roy Hodgson has visited Stamford Bridge on a number of occasions this season to look at Terry amongst others and many have called on the England manager to recall Terry for the World Cup next summer as the current Three Lions defence has looked shaky.

Terry’s club partner Gary Cahill looks to be first choice for England but Fowler is adamant that Terry should play alongside him if success is to be achieved in Brazil.

“I like John Terry because he is that old-fashioned centre-half.

“The modern centre-half picks the ball up and runs out with it and can maybe play a bit more football, but John Terry does what he does best, throwing himself into tackles, jumping in front of balls.

“I would [take him to the World Cup]. We’ve got Cahill, Lescott, Jagielka, Smalling, Jones. When you think of all of them, straight away I’m thinking John Terry would be a pick before most of them, if not all.”
