Liverpool are preparing a £20million offer for Real Sociedad star Antoine Griezmann, Metro reports.

The Reds are set to lose talisman Luis Suarez to Barcelona and are planning a bid for the French winger.

Griezmann put in some impressive performances in the World Cup, attracting interest from Europe’s top sides.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are closely monitoring the situation, with Arsenal also having two bids rejected in the past year.

But Liverpool are looking to steal the march on their title rivals by tabling £20million after Griezmann turned down Sociedad’s latest contract offer.

Griezmann snubbed a two-year extension and it is almost certain that the Frenchman will be sold before the transfer window closes this summer.

After already signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Emre Can and Southampton duo Adam Lallana and Rickie Lambert, Liverpool are also close to announcing the deal for Serbian star Lazar Markovic.

But with the sale of Suarez, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will still look to add to his side as they attempt to challenge for the title next season.

I know Rogers was interested in wide men but we have been linked with so many this transfer window it is getting ridiculous. Griezmann looks an impressive player, but I guess the Shaqiri transfer isn’t going to happen which is a pity.

I have a feeling Lallana will be playing more central, and I can almost see him playing alongside Henderson, just in front of Gerrard in a Midfield 3, with the likes of Sterling or Markovic playing between them and Sturridge.

If he can get these new players to gel and play the type of football we saw last season then it all looks very exciting.

I completely agree it would be a terrible thing if BR doesn’t land Shaqiri. He would be a much better and probably cheaper signing than Griezmann. We’re linked with so many players that we’re either gonna use up a ton of money but have one heck of a team, or this is going to be one disappointing transfer window.
