Liverpool are preparing a move which would see them take Paris St Germain winger Javier Pastore on loan, according to talkSPORT.

The Reds had previously been linked with a permanent move for the Argentine, although their hopes seemed to have been dashed after Pastore declared he had no intention of leaving the French capital.

However now it appears PSG are ready to let the 24-year-old leave for the second half of the season on loan, as he hopes to find regular first team football ahead of the summer’s World Cup.

Brendan Rodgers is understood to be at the front of the queue for the former Palermo man’s signature, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all uninterested as he is ineligible for the Champions League.

Liverpool are set to enter the transfer market for midfield reinforcements in January, following the news that captain Steven Gerrard has been ruled out until the New Year with a hamstring injury.

Pastore would fit the bill as another attacking option in the midfield for Rodgers, who has been left disappointed by the form of Victor Moses since his loan signing from Chelsea in the summer.

However the Anfield club face competition for his signature from Serie A giants Roma, and Lyon who are keen to keep him in Ligue 1.
