Liverpool are looking to make a second enquiry for Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani, Daily Star reports.
The Reds are still in the market for a world class striker to replace the departed Luis Suarez, and has set Cavani – also an Arsenal target – as their number one priority this summer.
The Merseyside club are also chasing Radamel Falcao, but see Cavani as an adequate alternative.
And according to German news publication Bild, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is already preparing a bid in order to bring the Uruguayan hitman to Anfield.
Recently Cavani’s agent Claudio Anelluci confirmed Liverpool did make a previous enquiry, but at the time the 27-year-old striker was still considering his options.
“There has been much interest in the player during the last six months,” he said.
“I can confirm that Cavani heard proposals from Liverpool and Arsenal.
“Already said he would love to play in England, but has not yet made a final decision.”
Arsenal have also firmly upped their interest in Cavani, reportedly preparing a £51million bid to sign the former Napoli man last week.
Cavani made 43 appearances for PSG last season, scoring 25 goals.
