Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to make a move for Marseille midfielder Mathieu Valbuena this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The French side are planning to let the talented playmaker leave at the end of the season, but only for the right price.

Marseille are having a poor season and are struggling to qualify for Europe next season, leaving the club’s big wigs planning a mass exodus of their big earners in the summer.

Liverpool were linked with a move for the versatile French international back in January, with Tottenham also rumoured to want to bring Valbuena to England.

The Reds are set to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in years and so will have a broader selection of players and also a bigger budget to deal with this summer.

Rodgers has proved astute in the transfer market and being a big fan of Valbuena, he is set to make a cut price summer move to bolster his attacking midfield options.
