Barcelona have open talks with Liverpool over a £12million move for Daniel Agger this summer, Daily Mail reports.
According to the Spanish media, Agger is expected to sign with the Catalan club with the Reds securing the capture of centre-back Dejan Lovren from Southampton.
The Dane has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona over the past few seasons and with competition for regular playing time at Anfield increasingly tough, could finally make the move to the Nou Camp.
Agger has been named by Barca manager Luis Enrique as the perfect replacement to the recently retired Carles Puyol, and is keen to partner him alongside Gerard Pique at centre-back.
The 29-year-old spent nine seasons at Anfield but in the past few years Agger struggled for fitness, pushing him down the pecking order.
Lovren’s arrival will only accelerate the proposed move, with Agger expected to become the second Barcelona defender signed this summer after the purchase of Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia.
