Liverpool are targeting Chelsea’s Ryan Bertrand to fill their left-back slot after the move for Alberto Moreno looks to have broken down, Daily Mail reports.
The 24-year-old has been with the club ever since their academy, but has admitted to wanting to make a move to a side that can offer him a bigger role.
Brendan Rodgers had the opportunity to work with the left back during his time at the Blues academy and could use his search for first team football to lure him to Anfield.
With Sevilla wanting an offer of up to £20 million for Moreno, the Reds could cancel their interest in the Spaniard and instead turn to Bertrand, who is worth far less at only £8 million.
The English left back made a few appearances for his side in the past few campaigns, but was mostly loaned out, with his latest spell at Aston Villa.
He also revealed his desire to join a team that can also provide him with Champions League football and Rodgers can surely use this to his advantage after securing a place in Europe for the upcoming year.
