Liverpool are extremely close to securing their fourth major summer signing with Benfica star Lazar Markovic set for a medical this Wednesday, talkSPORT reports.
After weeks of speculation the Serbian international is about to complete a £25million move to join Brendan Rodgers’ side.
The Reds have already purchased Southampton duo Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana along with Bayer Leverkusen’s Emre Can to sum up an extremely busy transfer window.
Markovic was in fine form for Benfica last term, scoring 5 goals as the club won the Primeira Liga and both Portuguese domestic cups.
The 20-year-old therefore attracted interest from Europe’s top sides, but Liverpool look to have beaten the likes of Chelsea to the pacey winger.
Now Portuguese newspapers and radio stations have reported that the attacker is set to conduct a medical on Wednesday, with the deal to be completed by the end of the week.
Although not a like-for-like replacement, the Reds are set to lose Luis Suarez to Barcelona and the capture of Markovic will ease the fans over their star player’s exit.
