Manchester United’s manager Louis van Gaal has hinted that he could use his Dutch squad’s 3-4-3 formation at Old Trafford next season, Mirror reports.
He has given work to the United staff on his decision to deploy his national team tactics at the club as preparations begin ahead of the start of the new campaign.
Van Gaal has been using this strategy throughout Netherlands’ World Cup run and has seen it bring success so far with his side now in the semi-finals.
For this to work, the 62-year-old will need to bring in quality defenders to fill the void left by Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
Arsenal’s Thomas Vermaelen and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels are the two prime targets he aims to bring in.
New signing Luke Shaw will fit perfectly down at the left wing back role, while makeshift right back from previous seasons Antonio Valencia could be a big possible down the other flank.
Up top, we could see Holland captain Robin van Persie team up with Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata to complete a preferred attacking trio.
