Samir Nasri is close to a Manchester City comeback after returning to full training, reports Sky Sports.

The France international could make his comeback in the last 16 tie against Barcelona next week.

He has made good recovery since injuring his knee on January 12 in the 2-0 win at Newcastle, and initially looked set to miss eight weeks of the season.

The 26-year-old returned to training ahead of City’s clash with Sunderland tonight, and although that fixture is likely to come too soon for him, he could feature in the FA Cup clash with Chelsea this weekend before the Champions League tie.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini said: “Nasri and Javi Garcia started training today with the squad, we will see in the rest of the week if they can be fit for Saturday.”

When questioned as to whether Nasri could play against Barcelona, Pellegrini added: “We will see in the next few days, up until Saturday. I think there is a chance.”

Nasri confirmed he is close to an imminent return via Twitter, saying: ”Happy to be back with the team, first full session can’t wait to be back in the squad thank you for your support.”
