Manchester United star Ander Herrera has revealed that he is uncertain over the future of David De Gea amid links of his switch to Real Madrid, according to reports from the Express.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper is yet to feature for the club as he is being forced to watch from his stands in light of a potential exit.

Real have made De Gea their first choice candidate to fill the role left by the departure of Iker Casillas, but are not willing to pay the £33million demands.

Herrera revealed that nobody knows where the future of De Gea lies and will have to wait and see what happens in the build up to transfer deadline day next week.

"I understand that there is an uncertainty among you [the journalist]. There is also [uncertainty] between us because we do not know what is going to happen. We have to wait," he said

"He is calm. One of his best skills is his serenity. He never gets nervous. That's why he is so good. The situation is out of my hands.

"I just can say that for me he is the best in the world, so if he stays with us it will be phenomenal."

The La Liga giants are hoping to sign him in a cut-price deal given that the Spain international only has a year left on his current contract, with no talks of any extensions ongoing.

He emerged as a standout performer for the Red Devils over the course of the last few seasons, but has now loss his regular role to free summer signing Sergio Romero.
