Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan has had no offers from Premier League clubs over a January move, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Argentinean’s agent Jose Iribarren has claimed that although no contact has been made as yet, that could change in January with Manchester United and Paris St Germain the front runners for his signature.
Gaitan is hoping to break into the Argentina squad for the World Cup next summer but a bigger stage in either England or France would boost his chances, although Benfica would be reluctant to sell.
The 25 year old has been at the Portuguese club for three years and has already made 17 appearances this season, one of the first names on the team sheet along with fellow Premier League target Oscar Cardozo.
Iribarren has claimed his client is fully focused on Benfica and will be until a formal offer comes in.
“Gaitan is focused on Benfica,” Iribarren told Portuguese newspaper ABOLA.
“The player is ignoring the rumours and is focused on his club.
“If there is any interest, we haven’t been told about it. There are no formal offers, only rumours.”
