Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini will not be naming his first choice keeper yet and will be giving both Joe Hart and Willy Caballero time to prove themselves, SkySPORTS reports.
In the post match interview, the Chilean manager stated that in the upcoming weeks, he will evaluate his players to see who is more ready.
“The goalkeeper is the same as any other position – most of the players who played today played all of pre-season,” he told City’s official website.
“All the 22 players in the squad are number 1 in all of the positions – we need them all.
“Joe finished last season playing very well – we will see next Sunday who starts against Newcastle.”
Caballero was given the nod ahead of usual number one Joe Hart in the Community Shield match against Arsenal, and is still in contention for the first-choice role despite the match ending in a 3-0 defeat.
