Manchester City midfielder David Silva picked up an injury in the derby win at old Trafford and is a major doubt for this weekend’s Arsenal clash, Mirror reports.
The Spanish playmaker is receiving intense treatment on his ankle in the hopes that he will make the trip to the Emirates on Saturday.
Although Silva played all 90 minutes in their 3-0 victory over Manchester United, the former Valencia man felt pain in his ankle immediately after the game.
The Sky Blue’s medical staff has put him under intensive treatment in the attempts that he will be ready for Saturday’s late kick-off in London, and they are going to wait till the last minute before announcing whether he is able to feature.
Silva has been in good form of late and will be a major blow to the Citizens, who are currently chasing league leaders Chelsea by three points and could be six points clear if Jose Mourinho’s men defeat Crystal Palace earlier that same day.
However Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be three points ahead of Chelsea if they manage to win all their remaining games in hand.
With Sergio Aguero also still sidelined with a hamstring, Silva will be a big miss as he was one of the stand-out performers in their convincing win over Manchester United.
