Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Sergio Aguero will be back in the squad for the game with Liverpool next week, as reported by Sky Sports.

Aguero has been out for a month with a hamstring injury picked up in Barcelona following a similar spell on the sidelines for the same problem earlier this season.

The Argentinean will not play today against Southampton but will return at Anfield in a game that could well decide where the Premier League trophy is going.

Pellegrini doesn’t want to rush Aguero, like he did before, but is confident he can play a big part against Liverpool.

“Sergio is okay. He has worked just now with the squad but he just started on Thursday, so he needs more work to be 100 per cent fit,” said Pellegrini.

“He is not in the squad but he doesn’t have any problems with his injury.

“For this week it is too soon for him to start playing because he just worked two days, but next week against Liverpool he will not have any problems.”
