Manchester City Target Not Thinking About Summer Move
Highly rated Crystal Palace youngster Jonathan Williams is ignoring talk of a big summer move in order to help the Eagles win promotion back to the Premier League.
The Welsh under-21 international has been the stand-out player for Palace in recent weeks, taking the headlines from Manchester United new boy Wilfried Zaha.
Williams may well be battling with Zaha for Premier League glory next season but the 19-year-old is solely focused on getting his beloved Palace back where they belong.
The South London club are sitting fourth in the Championship going into Sunday’s derby with Brighton and Ian Holloway is building a mega talented side at Selhurst Park.
Manchester City have sent scouts to recent Palace games and have been impressed by midfielder Williams whose technical talents are unparalleled in the Championship.
Williams has admitted it is nice to hear his name mentioned with a club like City, but he isn’t taking any notice of it.
“It’s nice to have that kind of story about me but I’m contracted to Palace and my main aim is getting us into the Premier League for next season,” Williams told the Daily Mirror.
“I enjoy every minute at Palace, it’s been great, and I signed a new deal at the end of last season.
“I never expected to play one game let alone 40-odd and hopefully I can get to the 100 mark like Wilf and Clyne and the other academy youngsters. That would be amazing.”
