Manchester United and Chelsea have both been offered encouragement in their pursuit of Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, after the Croatian midfielder refused to commit his long term future to the Spanish club, according to talkSPORT.
Rakitic has attracted interest from no fewer than six clubs, after a superb start to the season in La Liga.
The midfielder has scored seven goals in 14 La Liga starts, and has been widely tipped to move on in January, with his current club set to expire in 18 months.
Manchester United and Chelsea have both expressed an interest in his services, whilst La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid and host of Italian clubs including Napoli, Juventus and Lazio are also thought to be keen.
Recent reports went as far to suggest a pre contract agreement had already been reached with Atletico Madrid, but Rakitic insists he is fully committed to Sevilla for the time being at least.
“A football player can never say with certainty that they will remain at this club,” he is quoted as saying on TMW.
“It is the nature of the business. I’ve been at Sevilla for three years and in the meantime many things have changed. A possible farewell? I can assure you that I am 100 per cent focused on Sevilla.”
