Paris St Germain have joined Manchester United and Chelsea in the race to sign Sevilla captain Ivan Rakitic, according to talkSPORT.

The Croatian midfielder is expected to be one of the most sought after players during the winter transfer window, after a superb start to the season with Sevilla.

He has managed seven goals in 15 La Liga outings, and has caught the attention from clubs across England and Italy.

Manchester United and Chelsea were believed to have set their sights on the 25-year-old, but now face a huge challenge to fight off interest from French moneybags Paris St Germain.

The Ligue 1 Champions are understood to have already made contact with Sevilla about the midfielder’s availability.

The La Liga side had previously said their captain would not be sold for anything less than £33million, and whilst PSG have the funds available to pay the asking price, they remain confident of securing his services for considerably less.

Rakitic arrived at Sevilla in January 2011 for a bargain £2.2million deal from Schalke.

He has a year and a half left to run on his current contract, and had previously hinted he was hoping to move abroad in the January transfer window after growing frustrated with the lack of success at Sevilla.
