Both Manchester United and Liverpool can now end their pursuit of Ivan Rakitic after Barcelona have offically confirmed his signing, Daily Mail reports.
The Croatian star penned a five year contract with the La Liga giants, jump starting Luis Enrique’s squad overhaul as he recently saw Cesc Fabregas depart to Chelsea.
Sevilla also included a loan deal for Denis Suarez, who made his switch to the Spanish side after the arrival of Rakitic to the Camp Nou.
Barca gave their statement in regards to the move when they posted a picture of the attacking midfielder wearing the club kit on their official Instagram account.
The post read: “Ivan Rakitic will sign a contract with FC Barcelona for the next five seasons.
“Both clubs have also agreed for Denis Suárez to be loaned to the Andalusian club for the next two seasons.”
The 26-year-old playmaker was in top form for his previous side, scoring 15 goals and providing 18 assist out of his 52 appearances in the previous campaign.
