Manchester  United boss David Moyes has revealed his delight at poaching midfielder Juan Mata from Chelsea, as reported by Sky Sports.

The Spanish international arrived in Manchester yesterday and became the club’s record signing at £37.1million.

Mata has struggled to break into the Chelsea side this season under Jose Mourinho despite being their player of the season in the last two years.

Moyes has equally struggled at Old Trafford thus far and his work in the transfer market has been scrutinised as before Mata’s arrival, Marouane Fellaini was his only first team signing.

You can sense to relief now though as Moyes has snapped up one of the best players in the Premier League that could see them massively improve in the second half of the season.

“Juan is one of the finest playmakers in the game today and it’s a real pleasure to have secured his signature,” Moyes said.

“He’s been instrumental in Chelsea’s recent success, with a notable 28 assists and 32 goals in his last two Premier League seasons.

“I have been impressed with the excitement he has shown to be part of the new Manchester United.

“I know our fans have admired Juan for some time now – he has always played well against us – and I know they will be delighted to see him in the red of United, starting on Tuesday.”
