Manchester United pair Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones are both expected to be fit to make the England squad set to be announced on Monday, as reported by talkSPORT.

Rooney has missed the last two games through injury and is likely to sit out Sunday’s game with Southampton too, but interim boss Ryan Giggs believes England’s main man will be fine for the summer.

Jones was a serious doubt for the World Cup after coming off with what looked like a dislocated shoulder against Hull City on Tuesday night.

However Giggs is confident Jones will also be fine for the summer after receiving treatment for his shoulder problem.

“Phil’s injury is not as bad as I thought it was on the night,” Giggs revealed.

“He won’t be available for Sunday [when United play Southampton], but he should be okay for the World Cup.”

“Wayne has just started training over the last couple of days and Sunday probably will come a bit too quick for him,” Giggs said.

“But he will obviously be fine for the World Cup also.”
