Manchester United are convinced they will sign Luke Shaw from Southampton with a £30m deal, Telegraph reports.
The Red Devils believe they will pip Chelsea to the England international left-back in their attempts to rebuild the squad for next season.
And David Moyes would like to secure the deal before the World Cup kicks off this summer.
Club scouts have also reportedly been sent to watch Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Bayern Munich, to have a look at midfielder Marco Reus.
Even though Moyes’ future is in doubt, it has not swayed the board to pursue players the Scot has identified as his transfer targets, with the Premier League Champions confident of persuading Shaw to choose United over Chelsea.
It is mooted that Shaw – a Chelsea supporter – is concerned with his chances of first team football with the Blues, due to the stellar season Cesar Azpilicueta is currently having.
Ashley Cole is also expected to sign a one-year contract extension to stay at Stamford Bridge.
The Saints have however insisted that their star players, including Adam Lallana and defender Dejan Lovren, are not for sale this summer.
