Manchester United may need to cancel their efforts to sign Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez as the German side are refusing to sell the player, Daily Mail reports.
With long serving left-back Patrice Evra completing his switch to Juventus, Luke Shaw will be the only one able to fill that role after his £30million move from Southampton.
Louis van Gaal will need to add another wing back into his squad in order to provide some competition with the 19-year-old, with the Switzerland international being the ideal candidate.
After an impressive display at the World Cup, United were halted in their pursuit of the 22-year-old after Wolfsburg’s Sporting Director hinted that a move was not going to happen.
Klaus Allofs highlighted the fact that: “Ricardo is not going anywhere.”
Rodriguez made 34 Bundesliga appearances last season, scoring five goals and providing a further nine assists.
He also featured in four of his nations international games in Brazil, adding another two to his tally of assists.
