Manchester United keeping tabs on Argentine ace
Manchester United are keeping tabs on former Real Madrid defender Ezequiel Garay, according to the Daily Mail.
The Argentinian, who now plies his trade at Benfica in Portugal, was reportedly watched by representatives of Manchester United during his side’s 4-0 win over Victor Guimaraes on Sunday evening. It was a routine win for home side and a game in which Garay himself got on the score-line.
It was somewhat of a perfect audition for the defender, and a performance that was sure to have impressed Manchester United’s representatives ahead of what could be a busy summer transfer period for the club.
It’s no secret that the table-toppers will want to strengthen their side this summer especially defensively as injury troubles start to plague the old rearguard of Ferdinand and Vidic.
The news of impending defensive arrivals could however come as a shock to players such as Chris Smalling and Johnny Evans. However neither one has looked overly confident when placed in the first team squad over the past couple of seasons, and Alex Ferguson looks set to spend money on reinforcements during the summer.
Meanwhile the club have also given a trial to Danish defender Jacob Rasmussen, 16, who currently plays for Odense.
