Manchester United could be attempting to steal Yevhen Konoplyanka from Liverpool’s grasp even though the Anfield side have been chasing him since January, Mirror reports.

Newly appointed United manager Louis van Gaal is set to begin his summer transfer dealings with a move for the Dnipro winger ahead of Brendan Rodgers.

At 24-years old, the Ukrainian star has a £12-million buyout option which both Van Gaal and Rodgers are set to trigger as they battle out for the services of the winger.

The Red Devils have been scouting Konoplyanka, most recently in his league win on Sunday as they now wait on the go ahead from their new manager.

His form for Dnipro has been very good, scoring in four of his seven Europa League matches as well as helping his team reach the UEFA Champions League qualifiers stage for their next campaign.

However, with the Old Trafford side not reaching the Champions League for next season, sealing a move for Konoplyanka, who surely wants to play in a European competition could be a problem.

Andrily Stetsenko, the director of Dnipro also came out to say: “Konoplyanka is still available for any club to buy. His contact has a buy-out option worth £12million.”
