Juventus star Andrea Pirlo is set to sign a new deal with the club scrapping plans of a move to England this summer, as reported by Sky Sports.
Manchester United were keen to bring the ageing legend to Old Trafford this summer, with Arsenal also keen on a free transfer.
However the Italian international, who is set to represent his country at the age of 34 this summer in Brazil against England, feels a stay in Turin is the best option at the moment.
Pirlo feels he can still play at the top level for another two years, although at his age signing new contracts become more important in terms of feeling his body.
“We are close,” he told Radio Dee Jay.
“We are waiting only for the right moment to meet and to decide everything.”
“I think I am able to for another few years at this level. When I don’t see myself at the top, I’ll be the first to know. But whilst I feel good, I’ll continue playing.”
