New Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has revealed his excitement at the thought of walking out at Old Trafford for the first time.
Incoming boss Louis van Gaal has met with the squad ahead of their trip to the United States in the coming days for a pre-season tour.
While Herrera may not have been a Van Gaal signing, the Spaniard is confident he can hit the ground running in England.
Spain team mates Juan Mata and David De Gea appear to have had a big say in convincing Herrera to join from Athletic Bilbao after the Red Devils finished seventh in the Premier League last season.
“I am very excited to play at Old Trafford,” Herrera told MUTV.
“I played one time here for [Athletic] Bilbao and I have good memories of this game [Bilbao won 3-2 in the Europa League] – you could say I have a 100 per cent record here!
“My first game [at home] will be against a Spanish club which is special and I’m sure it will be a special day. I can’t wait.”
“I am very happy and really enjoying being at the club and in the city,” he said. “The first couple of weeks here have been great.
“Training has been good, similar to at [Athletic] Bilbao in that we train a lot with the ball. The coaches want us to have the ball and keep possession which is great for the players.”
“Juan and David told me United is a big club, maybe the biggest in the world and they said there is a great spirit here. I have [already] seen that. I am happy and just want to start playing now.”
