Manchester United are preparing a £27million bid for Southampton defender Luke Shaw, according to sources at Sky Sports.
Shaw has been heavily linked with United for months, as well as the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.
United are reportedly keen to get their business done ahead of the World Cup, despite not having a permanent manager in place.
The Red devils ended their season under interim boss Ryan Giggs with a 1-1 draw on against Shaw’s Southampton at St Mary’s, although it is not clear whether talks followed the game.
Shaw has established himself as one of the best young players in the country since making his debut for the Saints in November 2012.
The youngster is nervously waiting to discover if he will be a part of Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad, which is set to be announced on Monday.
United have made the signing of a new left back a priority, with veteran Patrice Evra set to leave the club now his contract has expired.
The club could also confirm the appointment of their new permanent manager within the next week, with Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal the favourite to take over from David Moyes.
