Manchester United look to have come out luckier than Juventus as their their top summer target Arturo Vidal suffered yet another knee injury while on international duty with Chile, Metro reports.
Louis van Gaal had made the 27-year-old central midfielder his priority, dragging the transfer saga throughout the transfer window, but finally seeing the move break down.
Vidal, who is valued at about £42million, was closing in on a switch to Old Trafford until news that a reoccurring knee injury can come back to haunt him.
The deal eventually got cancelled on deadline day as Van Gaal refused to pay the £42million being asked, stating that he was only prepared to spend 30million to get the Juventus star.
However, with reports saying his latest knee injury could be very serious, the Chilean could now miss a large chunk of the 2014-2015 campaign, much to the relief of United and their fans worldwide.
