David Moyes has identified Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke as his top January transfer target, and is busy preparing a £25million bid, according to the Metro.
Moyes has money to spend in January after missing out on a host of top targets in the summer, and is desperate to add reinforcements to a midfield that has struggled at points during the first half of the season.
And after running the rule over a number of transfer targets, Moyes has decided Koke is the most favourable option.
The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in Europe, after playing an integral part in Atletico Madrid’s rise up the La Liga table this season.
Diego Simeone’s side will be desperate to hang onto the playmaker, with Atletico currently level on points with Barcelona at the top of La Liga.
The Spaniard is valued at around £30million, but reports in Spain suggest £25million will be enough for Manchester United to complete the signing.
Koke is able to play in a number of positions across the midfield, including the centre, out wide, or off the main striker.
Barcelona and Liverpool have also been linked with the playmaker, who has made no secret of his desire to one day play in the Premier League.
