Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney is believed to have asked senior officials at the club to not name Louis van Gaal as the new manager this summer, Metro reports.

The Dutchman is currently poised to accept an offer in the very near future, but with news of a conflict of interest between United’s star man and their potential candidate, everything could now be put on hold.

Rumours suggest that Rooney is not a fan of the former Barcelona boss highlighting Van Gaal’s hard-line methods as a factor in his decision as he urges the board of directors to look elsewhere.

Additional reports make claims that with the England striker being the club’s highest paid player, he will definitely have some influence with the upper management in regards to who will be in charge next season.

With Van Gaal’s appointment not yet officially confirmed, nothing is set in stone, therefore a move for somebody else United have lined up is surely not out of the question.

This is the most stupid news if there’s any truth in it. First we heard he would be informed of players to be signed them timidly denied. Now he wants to have a say in which manager to come in. Rooney is a great player but I have serious doubts about his real love for United. The club is always bigger than the player and if Van Gaal is the man them so be it !

Rooney has a contract, he just signed it, it makes him very rich and yet he was hugely disapoointing when it mattered this season. He needs to earn as much of his ridiculous salary as he is capable of. I’d prefer he was at Chelsea and we bought a fitter, quicker, player or play Danny Welbeck.
