Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is not getting carried away after his stunning striker at West Ham yesterday, as reported by Sky Sports.

Rooney smashed a double to ensure a perfect week for David Moyes after United’s victory against Olympiakos in midweek.

The struggling Champions are well off the pace in the Premier League but they capitalised on recent poor results for Tottenham and Arsenal to give themselves a faint hope of Champions League qualification.

Rooney believe that it was pure instinct which made him smash home a 40 yard volley against the Hammers that has been dubbed the goal of the season.

“I think it’s just instinct. I’ve turned, had a quick look and seen the goalkeeper is off his line. I’ve tried that many times but thankfully it’s gone in,” Rooney said.

“You try them in training, you try it in games, but it’s not often they come off. When they do it’s great for me and the team to put us in such a position.”
