Manchester United defender Phil Jones has urged fans to stay with the team going into the final two games of the season, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

United were beaten at home by Sunderland yesterday, which dented their chances of finishing in the Europa League places.

Jones has become a regular this season both under David Moyes and now Ryan Giggs, and with Nemanja Vidic leaving and Rio Ferdinand’s future unclear he could be a key man again next season.

A full time summer appointment is key for United and Jones knows the fans have suffered this season and deserve better.

“They’ve had a difficult season. It’s not been easy for them, especially at Old Trafford. You can understand that totally,” Jones said.

“We’re now looking forward to Hull on Tuesday night. The only way to bounce back is to win a match and at least it’s coming around quick again on Tuesday night.”

United play their game in hand against Hull in midweek to ensure European football will be staying at Old Trafford.
