Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck has batted away claims by David Moyes that he isn’t working hard enough in training, as reported by the Guardian.

Moyes claimed on Thursday Welbeck needed to do some extra training to work on his weaknesses in order to get a regular spot in the United side.

The England forward scored twice at Aston Villa last week and also lead the line in Wednesday’s cup win at Stoke but when Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie are fit, Welbeck doesn’t get a look in.

In response to Moyes’ criticism, the 23 year old has claimed that he already does extra training sessions to improve and he has done that ever since he has been involved in the United first team.

“I have been doing that ever since I have been at United,” Welbeck said

“Obviously I have been injured this season so maybe the manager has not seen me on the training pitch as much. Maybe, I haven’t seen what he has said. Obviously, at Manchester United, I want to be working hard and I have been doing that ever since I was a young kid.

“I just want to keep on getting better and improving. Those extra hours on the training pitch, whether it be with the boys or individually, I am just looking to improve.”
