Manchester United are said to have offered Joao Miranda an increased contract in order to convince him to make the switch to Old Trafford, Daily Star reports.
The Atletico Madrid centre-back has already admitted his desire to leave the club, but with a release clauses of £24.2 million, no official bids have been confirmed.
Miranda feels that he should make a move elsewhere after not getting his name on the Brazilian national team to play in the World Cup.
Louis van Gaal will face tough competition from Barcelona, who are aiming to add some strength into their defence and has also stated that the Spanish side will meet the club’s release clause demands.
Atletico are currently trying all they can to make him remain at the club and has also been told he could receive an even better deal in order to stay at the Vicente Calderon.
The Red Devils’ defensive line have lost a lot of experience recently with the huge departures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
