Manchester United are looking to sign AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong this summer, Daily Star reports.
Reports from Italy suggests that newly appointed Man United boss Louis van Gaal is looking to lure his Dutch defensive midfielder along with him to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal is currently in charge of the Dutch national team and is keen to add an anchorman into the Red Devils midfield, with De Jong his top target.
He has told Ed Woodward, executive vice chairman of United, his desire to bring over the former Manchester City man.
De Jong currently plies his trade in the Italian Serie A for AC Milan, but with only 12 months left on his contract, the Rossoneri are considering selling the Dutchman now rather than lose him for free next summer.
And it is reported Milan would let the 29-year-old leave for just £6million.
New boss Filippo Inzaghi is looking to overhaul his squad after the Italian giants failed to qualify for the Champions League last season.
De Jong started in the Netherland’s first two World Cup games, with his side winning both.
