Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal could be dealt yet another transfer blow after one his main defensive target, Mats Hummels, recently revealed his happiness to remain at Borussia Dortmund, Daily Mail reports.
The newly appointed boss is currently in the process of a squad overhaul at Old Trafford and Hummels is said to be ranked amongst the very top of his defensive shopping list.
However, the German center-back has revealed to his close friends that he is “100 per cent” happy at The Westfalenstadion and could even be ready to sign a new contract, extending his current one which expires in 2017.
Van Gaal, who will join the United staff after the World Cup due to his national team responsibilities, is said to have heard the comments regarding his top target, and is believed to have set his sights on another Bundesliga defender, Bayern Munich’s Holger Badstuber.
Van Gaal has been monitoring a majority of his priority transfer targets from Bayern, having already been linked with Toni Kroos, Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller, and now Badstuber.
