Sporting Lisbon chief Bruno de Carvalho has dismissed talk of him selling their star youngster William Carvalho this summer, as reported by Sky Sports.
Manchester United have been long term admirers of the Portuguese international and it was reported earlier this week that the Red Devils had already agreed a deal to sign the 22 year old.
United are set to appoint Louis van Gaal as their permanent boss next week and so will wait for his judgement on Carvalho before making a bid matching Sporting’s release clause for the midfielder.
President de Carvalho has assured fans that they do not want to sell their main man and that no club has approached them yet.
“There is nothing inevitable. I am almost certain, if not absolutely certain, that William will continue at Sporting,” de Carvalho told reporters.
“You never know when a club might appear and be interested in taking him by paying the release clause.
“Now, William is very satisfied, he is happy and so are we.”
