Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has been warned by the Football Association over his comments in the aftermath of the club’s 0-0 FA Cup draw away to Cambridge last month, according to reports from the Express.

The Dutch manager told the press that everything was against his side, blaming the referees and the pitch for being unable to break down their lower league opposition.

Van Gaal said: "Every aspect of a match is against us. We have to come here, the pitch isn’t so good, that can influence that you can play in another style.

"The opponents always give a lot more than they normally give and defending is always easier than attacking. Then you have seen the referee – it’s always the same. Everywhere I have coached these games, and I have coached them with other clubs, it’s always the same.

“It was a pity we had to wait until half-time. In the second half I was pleased but we didn’t score. I have to give the credit to this club.

"Cambridge United played very well, they were very well organised. They fought till the end. We could have scored I think but we are still in the Cup and that’s the most important thing. I have seen big clubs lose against such opponents.”

The Red Devils did triumph in the replay at Old Trafford, however the FA punished Van Gaal for his comments to the media.

The former Bayern Munich boss appealed the charge, but it was turned down by the FA, who officially warned Van Gaal over his conduct when speaking to news outlets.

A statement read: "Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing on Wednesday 18 February 2015, Louis van Gaal has been warned as to his future conduct after he was found to have breached FA Rules in relation to media comments.

"The Manchester United manager denied that his comments which followed The FA Cup Fourth Round tie against Cambridge United on 23 January 2015 alleged and/or implied bias on the part of the match referee, and/or brought the game into disrepute."

After their win over Cambridge, United went on to beat Preston North End 3-1 in the round of sixteen, setting up what is expected to be a thrilling encounter against Arsenal in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
