Everton boss Roberto Martinez wants Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell to return to Goodison Park while also offering Monaco striker Lacina Traore a second chance, Mirror reports.
Martinez attempted to land the City star with a loan deal in January, but the deal broke down after the Sky Blues were unable to land Porto midfielder Fernando.
However the Spanish manager remains adamant on bringing Rodwell – who went to Man City for £12million in August 2012 – back to Merseyside this summer.
Martinez will lose on-loan midfielder Gareth Barry when his contract expires in only a month’s time, and has eyed team-mate Jack Rodwell to be the perfect replacement.
The 23-year-old English midfielder has made only 10 starts in two years at the club, albeit he was blighted by niggling injuries.
Rodwell is, in any case, way behind in the City midfield pecking order and a move to his former club could do him wonders for his career.
Meanwhile Martinez also wants Lacina Traore back at the club, after the Ivorian striker played just two games due to a long injury layoff.
The former Wigan boss believes the 6ft 8in striker offers their side a different option up front, which could be a key factor in their Europa League push.
