Liverpool have joined three other clubs in the race to sign Sampdoria striker Mauro Icardi this summer.
The 19-year-old impressed Liverpool when he scored the final goal in their game against Roma this weekend in a 3-1 win. But the Reds are not the only club that are keen to sign Icardi, he has also had attention from Spurs, Inter Milan and Man City.
Roberto Mancini was also in the stands watching the game and spoke to The Daily Mail:
‘He scored a great goal and moved very well and I must say I liked him.’
Icardi has had an impressive start in football scoring over 500 goals goals in the youth stages of his career and is no stranger to having a few clubs fight it out for his signature. In 2008 he had interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Deportivo la Coruna, Espaynol, Valencia, Sevilla, Arsenal and Liverpool and he chose Barcelona. He played there for 3 years before transferring to Sampdoria in 2011.
Sampdoria who refused a high value bid from Napoli in the winter transfer window will be reluctant to sell their striker especially after he scored six goals in January alone, but they may be forced to listen to offers in the summer.
It seems that Inter Milan are the club mostly likely to sign the striker.
