McLeish hints at Pav return

Birmingham City manager has confirmed that he may make a second bid to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker next .

The 28-year-old international came close to heading to St Andrew's last month, before a deal fell through due to a difference over the player's valuation.

McLeish told reporters:"We went for Pavlyuchenko, as most people know and his wages weren't outrageous.

"He's a top player. He would have enhanced the squad and been great cover for Christian and .

"No, he would have come in and really upped the ante in terms of the competition for strikers, but it wasn't to be and maybe we will revisit it."

McLeish also confirmed that he made an enquiry about star , adding:"I asked the question of and said he was going to keep everybody until the end of the season.

"He said they were short of players anyway. If he lost any more, it would be difficult. That was a personal phone call to Walter."
